Power Up With Hemp

Finally, after years of flax and chia seeds leading the way as superfoods, hemp is getting it’s turn in the spotlight.

Hemp-derived products, especially de-hulled hemp seeds and hemp protein powder, are nutrient dense and can be used in a wide variety of food applications. From bakery mixes to sports nutrition, hemp-derived ingredients will up the ante of any product.

Here is a delicious recipe using high-quality hemp products from Blue Sky Hemp Ventures:

Flourless Hemp Cake

What You’ll Need:

7.5 oz (200g) unsweetened 70% min baking chocolate
1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 cup (200g) pitted dates, or about 10 dates
3 large eggs
2 TBSP (30 ml) Blue Sky Hemp Oil
2 TBSP (30ml) coconut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup Blue Sky Hulled Hemp seeds
2 tsp Blue Sky Hemp Protein

Make It Happen:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a food processor, pulse chocolate, cocoa powder, 1/8 cup hemp seed, hemp protein powder and baking soda until coarse texture is achieved
  3. Pulse pitted dates, then eggs, coconut and hemp oil and vanilla.
  4. Transfer the batter into an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking dish.
  5. Add remaining hemp seeds as “topper” for additional texture and visual appearance
  6. Bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before serving.
